Master Planners for the State of Qatar

The Urban Planning and Development Authority of the State of Qatar is currently assembling an international planning team to prepare the Master Plan for Qatar. These positions will offer a lump sum monthly salary that incorporates roundtrip airfare to and from Qatar at the beginning and end of the two year term and housing allowances. Public health care is provided. The first three months of employment are considered probationary. The two year contracts may be renewed depending upon performance.

The State of Qatar is situated halfway along the western coast of the Arabian Gulf on a peninsula covering an area of approximately 11,500 square kilometers. Qatar is a friendly, clean, modern, and safe environment with a stable government and tremendous resources in natural gas. The vision for Qatar is to become a destination of choice for tourism, sports, and academia among the Arabian Gulf States. Qatar currently hosts many international events, including world class sports competitions (Asian Games 2006), and political and economic conferences. The standard of living in Qatar is among the highest in the world and offers an expatriate an attractive and comfortable lifestyle.

Current Planning Projects

Master Plan for the State of Qatar, 2005 - 2008

The Master Plan for the State of Qatar sets the stage for development up to the year 2030. This new master plan encompasses revising the National Physical Development Plan and Local Area Plan for Inner Doha, a Transportation Master Plan, Infrastructure Master Plans, and an evaluation of the Greater Doha Structure Plan. New Zoning regulations and standards will be prepared to allow future residential growth to be integrated with infrastructure services.

Master Plan for West Bay Business Center

The Master Plan for the West Bay Business Center will evaluate current parking standards, prepare an office market study to determine a realistic annual commercial absorption rate, and determine appropriate heights and densities for future development in West Bay. An infrastructure master plan and traffic and transportation modeling will allow development in West Bay to be fully integrated with services. This project is in conjunction with the Roads Department.
